First time stick purchase and playing

Posted by McCoy Dean on Mar 1st 2021

Im a musician. When it comes to the world of musical instruments you, affordable instruments are usually cheap feeling and lack higher end features. I imagined a fighting stick would be the same. I have been playing for upwards of 11 years of playing fighting games. I was only 10 when i started and I obviously had to go through the motions. I can successfully combo, parry, dash, charge etc on pad. I never really had intentions switching to stick. For many people it seems like a necessary thing to become a better play or pro. It's not and thinking that is unfair to the pad generation of players. With that being said I finally made the decision to switch because i was tired of wearing control dpads. The lifetime of my dpads shorten each time as my skill cap raised. I wanted brand new controller precise everyone i play. Thanks to this stick here I have more precision than I knew I could have. The buttons have no input lag which blew me out the water because timing for combos felt completely different. The dashes with this stick are so smooth It makes me wanna back dash more in my matches. I love the snappy feeling with specials on the sticks end. The metal ball on top feels cool to the touch is a very nice and it adds weight to the stick so it resets to neutral fast. Face buttons and leds are all premium and really make this look super high end. The leds flash with gameplay or can just be put on or off. My friend owns a crystal and for comparison the obsidIan is way wider, but the crystal is heavier which I wont lie felt nice on the lap. Unless you wanna save a buck or the face plate leds are really really your thing, I cannot stress the Obsidian is worth every dollar if you are a serious fighting game player that either wants to go back to their roots in arcades or if your young like me and want to enjoy your fighting games in a new way and never have to worry about the jimmies of a bad controller. Hope this review was helpful and shoutout to QanbaUSA for the almost immediate email back to my shipping question and the amazing product.

    Best Stick So Far

Posted by Shane B. on Feb 28th 2021

I have used the Mayflash F500 V2 and the HORI Real Arcade Pro 4 Kai. This one stick is far better. Although, it is rather large and heavy.

    Quanba Obsidion

This is my first Fight stick and wow what an experience! Aside from how great it looks. I couldn't believe how responsive it is. Low latency is a must. Can't wait to start getting into fighting games again (the right way with a stick) and jamming with this beauty!

    My Favorite/Best Fightstick

Posted by Tommy J Godbold on Dec 29th 2020

Hello, I ordered the Qanba Obsidian and I have to say that this is my favorite fightstick. My fightstick journey started with Street Fighter V. I decided to challenge myself by ordering the TE2+ and learn how to play with it. I have been a pad player for years, so this was quite an adjustment. After months of training, I still could not come close to what I was with the pad. Then I moved to the Hori Real Arcade Pro. The hayabusa buttons felt nice, but after a couple of months I knew it would not be my main stick. From there, I purchased the Razor Panthera. It felt really good and after months of training, I realized that this would be my training stick. I learned all the motions and movements to build up as much muscle memory as I could, but I knew that this would not be my main stick. After doing more research to find my main stick, Qanba kept coming up. Review after review, the general consensus was that this was a great stick. I narrowed it down to the Qanba and the Victrix Pro FS. I decided to go with the Qanba Obsidian and after 20 minutes using it, I realized that I have found my main stick. It feels great and natural if that makes sense. What I don't understand is that 2 of the sticks that I own have all Sanwa parts, but the Obsidian feels superior. Even down to execution. With the other sticks, I could only pull off certain combos 4 out of 10 times. With the Obsidian, it is 8-9 times out of 10. I cannot express enough how good this stick feels. This might be overkill, but I am thinking of getting the Dragon as well. Sorry for the long story, but I just felt compelled to tell anyone and everyone who are in search for a great fightstick.                                                                                                                                                                 Tommy Godbold                                                                                                                                                                 Happy Obsidian Owner

    Solid pre-built controller

Posted by Kevin Carbonara on Dec 16th 2020

The parts are good, and the construction is solid. The only flaw is that it's too hard to open and modify. It's not meant for modding, but the ability to make simple changes like switching out the stick gating, or skinning the pad would have been great.
